Play Your Part Within Your Church

You might be very aware of the opportunity of the First Thousand Days of life, or just starting out. We believe that you are positioned to support and strengthen families.  Explore these steps below to get started:

Get inspired about how your church can play a part in giving all children a strong start to life. If you haven’t, we suggest you start by attending our Church & Early Life webinars and exploring more about the big idea and what ‘FTD friendly’ means.

Speak to your champion. If your church has signed up and committed to being FTD-friendly, there will likely be a key person who is leading a team of people focusing on families.

Speak to your church leader. If your church is not yet actively serving families within the First Thousand Days, encourage your church leader to attend a Church & Early Life event

Start supporting families. There are many things that you can be doing that encourage and strengthen families.  Read through our resources on caring for families and how to play a part in society.

Equip yourself. Sikunye offers training to equip you to give specific support to a family. Explore whether you want to be a home-visitor, a ‘loving connector’ or a Flourish Ante- and postnatal host.

Keep connected and supported by attending our Support Webinars and our Sikunye Gatherings.  Keep up to date by subscribing to our newsletter, following our social media and reading the stories of change that are taking place in churches all over South Africa.
